The Economics of Innovation

22 Feb 2022 — 28 Jun 2022

Innovation may save life (think of the Covid19 vaccines), it may make work more productive (think of computers), it may life more entertaining (think of streaming services).

This course will discuss the incentives to innovate and how policy may want to optimally design these incentives.

And yes, we will talk a lot about the Covid19 mRNA vaccines and the incentive structures which lead to their rapid development.

Prerequisites

While the lecture focuses on the intuition behind main concepts and is easy to follow, the tutorials are hard and require substantial knowledge in oligopoly and game theory.
